St. Louis – notable houses

These are just some miscellaneous little houses in St. Louis that I wanted a friend to see. I didn’t have many photos of my own so some are from Google Street View.

These are in St. Charles and St. Genevieve which are near St. Louis and were major French settlements, and are from the early 1800s which makes them about 100 years older than the ones above.

This was our vacation rental in a typical old St. Louis apartment building except the units are smaller than I have ever seen in this kind of old building – one bedroom and no dining room instead of the usual two bedrooms and a full-size dining room separate from the living room. Also they have a strange closet in the living room which has double doors and is very shallow. I really think it must have had a fold-down bed (Murphy bed) originally. Also there was an extraordinary number of closets – four full-size ones not counting the one in the living room.
